Help with bankruptcyIf you are like most of the people I meet with, making the decision to file for bankruptcy was a heart-wrenching, exhausting process.  You didn’t take the decision lightly and would have preferred to avoid it all together.  But you made the tough choice, bit the bullet, and filed your bankruptcy case.

The typical chapter 7 bankruptcy case is pretty uneventful.  Even so, because this is a new process it is normal for you to feel some anxiety about the bankruptcy process.  One of the big benefits to hiring a bankruptcy attorney to assist you through this process is simply having someone there who has “been there, done that”.

If you unfamiliar with the process every piece of mail you receive from the bankruptcy court can result in you tossing and turning all night  with worry- all needlessly.

As your bankruptcy lawyer I view my job as two-fold: first, I am there to prepare your bankruptcy documents and evaluate the information in them to help you avoid any problems and successfully complete your bankruptcy.  Second, I am there to hold your hand (literally if necessary) as you navigate the bankruptcy process.

What happens after your bankruptcy case is filed? What can you expect to happen at the Meeting of Creditors? Will any of my creditors actually appear to question me?  Will the bankruptcy judge ask me why I am needing to file bankruptcy?

These are all valid questions and questions that cause a lot of anxiety.  The thing is, you don’t have to wonder what the answer is or search the internet day and night and hope you find the right answer.  Having an experienced bankruptcy attorney will take the edge off of the decision to file for bankruptcy.

I know this blog post is self serving – after all, I am a bankruptcy attorney.  I make my living helping people file bankruptcy. But as with most things in life, having some one there who has walked this “road less traveled” can make all the difference.

(I like this picture, because as I write this post, it is a balmy 118 degrees here in Phoenix!).
